Midnight Ramblings

What do you say?
********************************

I spent almost more than an hour on deciding what to write... several things came in my mind ... my childhood,college,17-Sunrise Appt. ... My friends goyal,uddy,bebo....

Then I came across this poem from DALJIT NAGRA. I read it and liked it...But it was after an hour or so .. I tried to think about the meaning...I got my own meaning.
Suddenly I became curious about what other people may interpret .. What can be be their story attached to it.....
You all people read it... very few people comment ;) ... what about contributing this time....??? :)

The tree my father grew
from his garden I take an axe

and branch by branch
I break the tree

and set to work
the million maddened bits,

the fire of night.
Only ash I keep.

mei yeh sochti hoon ki..

ek beta yaad kar raha hai ki kis tarah usne apne pita ke sapno ko toda aur jab samajh aayi to hath mei kuch nahi sirf un sapno ki khaak reh gayi...."abb pachtaye hoat kya jab chidiya chug gayi khet"

@ Topic

I guess, the protagonist fulfills his father's last rights....

With his heart fraught with grief...he collects the ash...the remains of his deceased father....

My interpretaion:
father is xpecting 2 much frm his son .....
(The tree my father grew
from his garden )
but the son is rebellious ...he want 2 pursue his own dream .....
phir bhi wo apne pita k sapno ko samet kar rakhta hai dil k 1k kone me....jo usko humesha yaad dilati rahegi us sapno ki jo wo kabhi pura nahi kar sakta

In my view : Its about the teachings, upbringing and the relation which was given by a father to his son, which depleted slowly & slowly from the life of the son as he started looking at other things apart from these as more important..... and when he came to realise, what he left far behind and ignored.... it was too late, and the only thing left with him was his memories of childhood with his father.

It is nice dilip. But don't you think that it is inevitable. the current generation always refuse the ideas nurtured by its previous generation.
Sometimes new generation also exhibit a kind of animosity towards them as they always tend to think that they would be better off if the older generation would have acted in other way and have not acted in that certain way. well, this is an incessant cycle but there is one good thing in this and that is WISDOM COMES BACK TO NEW GENERATION AFTER ATTAINING A CERTAIN LEVEL OF MATURITY. after that they try to restitute the damage already done but of course they can't do it because they can't go back into the time and from here itself the second half of cycle resumes as they try to communicate their findings with their successors who will definitely going to burn that mataphorical tree one day and then perfectly replicate this whole scenario as they will pass their findings to others!!!

Sanjana ka comment best hai :-)
Sudden realisation dawns... the past holdings must be cleared, the mind must be freed... - to make way for the new, to embrace the freshness of the present wonders life has to offer...

(above ignoring the 'father' bit)

Also reminded me of some poem which was in curriculum before 10th standard - involving cutting of 'weeds'.
